Stoking Our Inner Fires with Song:
An Online Midwinter Community Sing

Saturday, January 23 | 4pm - 5:30pm (1.5 hours)
Tickets $10 per individual; $20 per household
Event on Zoom, led by Heidi Champney

From time immemorial, people have been gathering together to sing, and these experiences of being together in harmonious vibration have strengthened the bonds of community. In this time of pandemic, while we have had to endure severe restrictions on singing together, as well as touching and hugging each other, we can still:

sing with ourselves and with our families/pods
experience the resonance inside our bodies as a “hug from within”
• develop a repertoire of “community songs”: songs that are easy to learn, that touch our hearts, inspire our vision, and delight our spirits
• look forward to a time when we will be able to sing these songs together as a community

In this online Midwinter Community Sing, we will:
• cultivate an atmosphere that welcomes all voices
• spend some time experiencing the resonance of our own bodies
• learn and sing some community songs, together in spirit if not in body

All songs will be appropriate for all ages, and require no particular singing expertise. We encourage families/pods to participate together, and singles are welcome as well. Your experience will be most rewarding if you can participate from a place where you feel free to let your voice ring out!

I have a large repertoire of songs from many lands and cultures, that are easy and fun to sing and that connect us with Spirit. I invite participants to email me a few words, or a sentence or two, about what you would like to see in an ASIG community song repertoire. This will help me with choosing songs for this event. Please send your thoughts to me at heidichampney@gmail.com, by Monday 1/18.

About Heidi Champney
Heidi Champney is a lifelong musician and singer with a passion for helping people connect with the innate powers that can be accessed through the singing voice: self-expression, self-awareness, manifestation of intentions, moving and clearing emotions, and access to higher levels of consciousness. Her roots in the Quaker faith cultivated an early awareness of the sacred seed in all beings. Her work is informed by the conviction that as we heal ourselves, that healing radiates out into the world as well. Heidi holds a BA in physics from Oberlin College, where she also studied violin, music theory, and music history. Her recent studies in sound healing with Zacciah Blackburn, music improvisation with David Darling, yoga with Deborah Felmeth, and voice with both Deborah Felmeth and Susan Borg have uniquely positioned her for this work. She is also a certified practitioner of Eileen McKusick’s Biofield Tuning method, and an avid practitioner and leader of Kirtan chant.
