Build Your Spiritual Understanding and Practices

Fluency across faith traditions and spiritual orientations is no longer just for scholars or a select group of spiritual practitioners. It is a vital and essential skill for everyone, but perhaps especially so for those of us in interfaith communities.

What’s the difference between interfaith and interspiritual? While both involve engagement with different spiritual traditions, the key difference lies in the level of emphasis on respecting individual religious identities. "Interfaith" focuses on dialogue and understanding between different established religions, while "interspiritual" explores the deeper shared spiritual experiences and unity underlying various faith practices, potentially going beyond the boundaries of specific religions. Interfaith respects the differences between spiritual paths, while interspiritual also respects the differences while seeking to discover commonalities beneath those differences.

In this eight-class series, we will cover:

  • How to practice our spirituality across faith traditions and spiritual orientations.
  • Modeling respectful and engaging dialogue, honoring our traditions and those of others.
  • The history of Interfaith Dialogue from 7th Century Spain to its modern variants including the Parliament of World Religions and modern interfaith and interspiritual movements.
  • Engage with differing schools of thought on how to interact across religions and spiritualities.
  • The nine elements of Interspirituality as defined by Wayne Teasdale in The Mystic Heart.
